The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) team visited Neerja Modi School in Jaipur following the death of a student, Amayra Meena, 12 days ago. During their visit, the team met with school officials, administrative authorities, and Amayra’s family to gather information and assess the situation.
According to reports, the NCPCR team, led by members Dr. Madhulika and Deepti Bahl, conducted an inspection of the school premises and collected statements from the management. The family of Amayra has expressed frustration over the slow pace of the investigation and the school’s lack of transparency regarding the incident. They have raised concerns about bullying, violations of school regulations, and the alleged concealment of CCTV footage.
Amayra’s father, Vijay Meena, criticized the school for not having an anti-bullying committee, which he claims is mandatory. He stated that the school had only retained three days of CCTV footage, whereas regulations require retention of footage for 15 to 30 days. Meena also highlighted serious irregularities in the school building and mentioned that Amayra had previously reported bullying incidents to her teachers without any action being taken.
After meeting with Amayra’s family, NCPCR representatives acknowledged the family’s dissatisfaction with the ongoing investigation. Deepti Bahl emphasized that any actions taken by the commission would prioritize the welfare of children. The NCPCR team aims to ensure that the investigation leads to appropriate measures being implemented in the interest of child safety.
