On Friday, a program was held at the Police Line Ground to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the patriotic song “Vande Mataram.” The event featured performances by schoolgirls who danced to patriotic songs, alongside traditional drummers. The celebration was attended by Union Minister Bhagirath Chaudhary, Omprakash Bhadhana, Chairman of the Devanarayan Board, along with various administrative officials, students from government and private schools, and members of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
According to reports, approximately 5,000 people participated in the event, with around 2,000 students from different schools joining in the singing of “Vande Mataram.” The Department of Information Technology (DOIT) facilitated a live broadcast of the event, which included speeches from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.
During his address, Minister Bhagirath Chaudhary emphasized the significance of “Vande Mataram,” stating, “Today is a day of pride for everyone. Vande Mataram is not just a song, but the soul of the nation and a symbol of love and dedication to the land of India.” He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by those who contributed to the song’s legacy.
The program included a performance by international drummer Nathuram Solanki and his team. Additionally, freedom fighters and their families were honored during the event. However, there were instances where some school children left the program midway, prompting officials to intervene and encourage them to stay.
