**Investigation Findings**
The Higher Education Department has initiated significant action following the discovery of financial irregularities and administrative issues at Maharaja Surajmal Brij University, located in the Kumher area of Dholpur district. A recent investigation identified several officials, including former Vice-Chancellor Professor Ramesh Chandra, Deputy Secretary Arun Kumar Pandey, Examination Controller Farwat Singh, and Assistant Registrar Prashant Kumar, as responsible for these discrepancies.
**Disciplinary Actions**
According to a letter from Dr. Mukesh Kumar Sharma, the Joint Secretary of the Higher Education Department, the implicated officials will face disciplinary measures. The acting Vice-Chancellor has been instructed to suspend Arun Pandey, Farwat Singh, Prashant Kumar, and others involved. Additionally, the department has mandated the filing of First Information Reports (FIRs) against these individuals to ensure strict disciplinary action.
**Recovery of Funds**
The state government has also directed that financial recoveries be made from former Vice-Chancellor Ramesh Chandra, with a report on the matter to be submitted to the Governor’s Secretariat. This marks a notable move towards transparency and accountability in the university’s administration, as it is the first instance where direct suspensions, FIRs, and recovery actions have been ordered based on an inquiry.
**Previous Suspension**
Professor Ramesh Chandra was suspended seven months ago by the Governor due to allegations of financial misconduct and administrative irregularities. The investigation revealed that he primarily approved proposals drafted by the Deputy Secretary, Examination Controller, and Assistant Registrar, indicating that the irregularities were largely orchestrated by these three officials.
The investigation report has been compiled by the divisional commissioner and the district treasury officer and forwarded to the Raj Bhavan for further action.
